COTTON
Cotton is a material we use in many of our garments. It is both renewable and naturally biodegradable. Cotton has been one of the main fibres used in textile manufacturing for thousands of years and has many benefits. It is soft, durable, breathable and has cooling properties by absorbing moisture. Cotton is also good for sensitive skin as it is non-allergenic.

ORGANIC COTTON – LESS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
At Holebrook, we set high standards for sustainability, quality and environmental impact when choosing yarn and materials. That is why we choose organic cotton instead of conventional cotton whenever possible. Here are the reasons:
- Organic cotton means that it is grown and manufactured completely without chemical pesticides, artificial fertilizers or genetically modified seeds (GMOs) that affect biodiversity.
- For the cotton to be classified as organic, the soil it has been grown on must also have been free of chemicals for at least three years and crop rotation must be applied. This means a more complicated cultivation process that promotes biodiversity, but also makes organic cotton more expensive than non-organic cotton.
- Organic cotton is known and loved for its beneficial properties: it is hypoallergenic and breathable. It is also durable, which means that the garments have a long lifespan.

GOTS – GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD
Almost all the cotton yarns we use are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. This is an international label for organic textiles. The GOTS label requires that at least 70% of the fibres are organically grown and that the textiles meet environmental and health requirements throughout the production process.
OUR COTTON GARMENTS
We use cotton yarn to knit garments with exciting textures and patterns. We can also dye the yarn in a fully organic process to match other materials in our collections.
