Sustainable knitted dresses in timeless design
The concept of slow fashion is close to our hearts. It is an approach to fashion and design that emphasises thoughtfulness and awareness. For us, this means creating timeless and sustainable knitted dresses for women that do not follow short-lived trends. A knitted dress should last for many seasons, both in terms of design and quality. A knitted dress from Holebrook is comfortable to wear and suitable for many different occasions.
Knitted dresses in wool and cotton
Our knitted dresses are made from natural and sustainable materials such as wool and cotton. In our collection you will also find knitted dresses in our popular wool blend consisting of 80% wool and 20% polyamide. The polyamide helps the dress maintain its shape and prevents pilling, while the wool keeps you warm on colder days. All of our knitted dresses are produced responsibly in collaboration with suppliers we carefully select based on our high standards for sustainable production and quality. For extra protection against the elements you can also pair your knitted dress with one of our windproof women’s sweaters.
How to care for your knitted dress and extend its lifespan
Taking proper care of your knitted dress can extend the garment’s lifespan by several years, something we truly value. Here are some useful care tips to help you enjoy your knitted dress for many seasons to come.
How should I wash my knitted wool dress?
Our knitted dresses are made from sustainable and natural materials such as wool and cotton. This means they do not need to be washed often, which helps extend their lifespan. Wool fibres are naturally self-cleaning, antibacterial and odour-resistant, so washing is rarely necessary. Often it is enough to air or steam the dress to freshen it up. If your dress becomes stained, remove the stain as quickly as possible. If washing is required, follow these steps:
1. Always read the care label first. Use a mild detergent, ideally one designed for the material. Wash the dress according to the instructions, either by hand or on a hand wash or wool cycle in the machine. Pay close attention to the temperature and never wash too hot. Use a laundry bag to protect the garment. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, as they can damage the fibres and cause the dress to lose its shape.
2. After washing, do not twist or wring the dress. Instead, lay it flat on a towel, roll it up to absorb excess water and then let it dry flat on a clean surface.
Why is my wool dress pilling?
Pilling is both common and natural for a wool garment. It occurs when the shorter fibres in the yarn work their way to the surface. The pills are easy to remove with a wool comb. Place the dress on a flat surface and use downward strokes to remove the pills. Repeat when necessary.
How should I store my knitted dress during the summer?
When the warmer months arrive you may want to store your knitted dress. The best way is to keep it in a dry and airy environment. Do not store it in plastic bags or in direct sunlight. Wool dresses are especially vulnerable to moths, so make sure the dress is clean and dry before putting it away. Invest in cedar wood moth repellents and place them alongside your knitted dress.
